About Tracey
![]() Tracey Swain is a professional and passionate photographer who has been involved in the photographic image since the tender age of 9 years old. Tracey's love of photography from a very early age, combined with a love of nature and landscapes made it an obvious choice for her to follow her passion in the footsteps of her idols Ansel Adams for his stunning landscapes and Simon Marsden for his mystical Gothic works in Black & White, Bromide and Infra Red. Tracey trained photographically when painting and other styles of hand drawn art eluded her, Tracey is amongst the few that believe with a passion photography is an art form that is dangerously close to being lost in the age of technology. Tracey trained in London to degree standard in film and darkroom printing techniques although she now uses a digital medium. Tracey keeps her degree training and laws of film firmly in place believing If its not captured in camera you don't have it, and shouldn't enhance it to try an get it. However obvious techniques such as Sepia and Infra Red are digitally manipulated, unless digitally enhanced as specified 90% of Tracey's work is printed as it was seen the moment it was captured. Working in print all her life Tracey graduated with Distinction & Honours from college (Kingsway Princeton, Farringdon London) to become a professional darkroom technician working for some of the biggest names in the West End (Studio 10, Contour Colour, Visualeyes Colour, Quicksilver to name a few). When the Apple Mac computer arrived on the scene, Tracey retrained at the London College of Print Elephant & Castle then embraced and excelled in photo-lithography the art of image through litho print. Due to this extensive training and experience in her field Tracey has the ability to capture an image and take it right through from camera to final photographic print mounted and framed or designed work to be printed in corporate brochures, marketing literature, calenders or book covers. When diagnosed with Fibromayalgia/ME after a back injury Tracey had to retire from her working career in London and the south east. After a visit to Shropshire on a calender shoot she decided to move to the picturesque county (March 07) and undertook a self employed career in an attempt to keep some normality in her life fitting in with her illness. Shropshire is truly a beautiful and special place on earth where Tracey can devote her time to her landscapes and love of natural nature photography. Painting with light being Tracey's favourite past time.
